Ingenuity saves cold cash on skijor equipment

Unable to legitimize spending more than $80 on professional-grade skijor equipment simply to try the sport, I started to think about other items I could use in place of a towline, belt and racing harness.

"It's just a belt and a bungee," I thought, "and Saber can use the harness we got at the pet store a few years ago. It's not a racing harness, but it should do the job."

Now, I'm no engineer, but the spokes turned quickly.

Minutes later, I emerged from the basement with a dust-covered weight-lifting belt and a resistance band.

Success.

Next week: Did it work? You bet. It's the video you've been waiting to see.
